Fire Ants!

Make your own Ant Control

What you need
Spray bottle (old Windex bottle)
1 oz dish soap
4 oz Neem oil
2 oz Orange oil
old broom handle

Any old spray bottle will do the trick. As for the dish soap, I use Dawn. Dawn is very sticky and it helps keep the oils suspended in the mixture. The Neem oil can be purchased at Amazon or Tractor Supply. The product I use is Garden Safe Neem Extract. The orange oil is an essential oil that I bought from Ebay.

How to Use
Mix the ingredients together in bottle. Fill the bottle with water.
Now for the scary part.  Early in the morning, find the ant mounds. While it is still cool outside the ants will be less active. First, spray a circle around the mound. Second, use the broom handle to press a hole into the center of the mound. Make the hole as deep as possible. Third, spray the hole thoroughly, drenching it.

At this point, you may want to move back a bit. Depending the weather and the size of the mound, you may need to repeat the process a day or two later.

Good luck! Remember that your landscape is your sanctuary. It should bring you peace and keep you grounded. Dream it, build it. Let me know if I can help.
