It's All About Your Style

What design style celebrates who you are?  Yes, I am talking about landscape designs.  We all have a favorite style that brings peace within our sanctuary.

While there are too many to mention, I wanted to go over a few favorites.  We all agree your sanctuary should be a place of peace...a place where you can "get grounded".

For me, that style is a mix between formal and informal.  I like my front yard to be a bit more formal with tightly manicured shrubs and turf cut a bit longer than normal.

While in the back I like it a bit relaxed and informal.  A space for relaxation.  This usually means the turf is a little shorter and shrubs not so manicured with a larger variety of plants.  Still looks nice yet entertaining has more of a relaxed feel.  Yep....it's OK to mix your styles!

A style that is loved by many yet takes a little work to maintain is the Cottage Style.  This is a tightly variety of plants and trees planted very closer together.  Lots of winding paths and cobblestone patios.  Plants also include climbing varieties as well as lots of blooming varieties.

Lots of colors and patterns.  This style usually requires a little more maintenance as the plants tend to growing into each other; however, this style can be very relaxing.  You can be engulfed in the area and easily find yourself relaxing and becoming grounded.

One of the last styles I would like to mention is a Natural/Native style.  This style can require the least amount of maintenance yet be created to look amazing.

The use of native plants to your area which will be easy to maintain.  Beautiful trees and natural falling pine needles to which help to prevent weeds.  Plants in their natural beauty with very little to no trimming.  Wonderful world to become grounded!
